BFBS Radio 2021

This project was the third version of the website built over a 6 year period.

Our project scope was provided by the Head of Radio to deliver more visitor engagement for the Radio stations via the online Radio website. The website had audio articles, upcoming events and Radio related news, but did not have any live engagement.

This is the brief scope from the Head of Radio:

  • Need more engagement from the Armed Forces personnel and their families
  • Require live audio via the website (without major costs implementation)
  • New site needs to represent more of a Radio feel, than the rest of the BFBS websites

For a project manager, the first step in any project typically involves initiating the project. This phase sets the groundwork for the entire project lifecycle. Here's what's typically involved:

  1. Project Initiation:
    • Define the project's purpose, objectives, scope, and deliverables. This involves understanding the project's requirements and aligning them with organizational goals.
    • Identify key stakeholders and establish communication channels to ensure their involvement and support throughout the project.
    • Conduct a feasibility study to assess the project's viability, considering factors such as technical feasibility, financial feasibility, and organizational capacity.
    • Develop a project charter or initiation document that formally authorizes the project and outlines its key parameters, including scope, budget, timeline, and success criteria.
    • Assemble the project team and assign roles and responsibilities. This may involve recruiting team members, securing resources, and establishing reporting structures.
    • Conduct a kickoff meeting to introduce the project to stakeholders, communicate project objectives and expectations, and initiate team collaboration.

By initiating the project effectively, the project manager lays the foundation for successful project execution, ensuring that everyone involved understands the project's goals, scope, and expectations from the outset. This sets the stage for effective planning, execution, and control throughout the project lifecycle.
